Joplin Floor Designs has truly been a family business for over 50 years. The business started as Hukill Furniture and Carpet in Seneca MO in 1962 by Denzil and Lillian Hukill. Denzil and Lillian ran the business until 1992, when their son, Duane Hukill, bought out the business and moved it to Joplin – renaming it Joplin Floor Designs.
Duane and his wife Holly are the current owners and are carrying on the tradition set forth by Duane’s parents. Duane feels the success of Joplin Floor Designs has come from the values that he was taught by his parents, and is still evident in the business today.
Give the customer what they want; quality products at reasonable prices, with personal service and no gimmicks. “A great part of our business comes from customers who have bought from us and then tell their family and friends to come here”, says Duane. “We are proud that our commitment to service and quality means people recommend us to the most important people in their lives.” That is why being family owned and operated is so important to Joplin Floor Designs.
Holly came into the business in 1999 and runs the accounting and marketing end of the business. “People ask me all the time, how do we work together all day and live together too?” I tell them that Duane has his area of the business and I have mine – and then we work together on other parts of the business towards a successful goal.”
Joplin Floor Designs not only sells and installs residential products, but commercial products for businesses as well, under Hukill Commercial Flooring.
They carry name brands such as Mohawk and Shaw Carpet, Wood flooring by Bruce, Harris Tarkett and Mohawk and Ceramic and Porcelain tile by Daltile, American Olean and Crossville. They also sell and install Granite and Quartz countertops and have many slabs on site for customers to look at.
They have 6 full time salespeople to help you make your selections and assist you from the minute you walk in the door until your flooring is installed in your home or business..
